Sustainable Practices
Visa Lighting is committed to sustainable practices for the betterment of human health, the environment, social responsibility and safety. We have applied our manufacturing knowledge of continuous improvement to our sustainability efforts.
Our Products
Expanded LED Offering — 252 new products and an additional 80 classic products are offered with LED, providing long life and low-energy solutions. All products feature replaceable power supplies and sources.
Optics — Our innovations design team uses the latest optical design tools in both reflector and lens optics to ensure high performance luminaires.
BIM — We offer a comprehensive BIM product library. These BIM files contain metadata to assist in energy, sustainability and photometric calculations.
Our Processes
Powder Coat — Visa Lighting offers No VOC powder coat paints for our 16 standard colors to reduce their overall environmental impact.
Plating Alternative — Electroplating is harsh to the environment and the process is demanding on both water and energy use. Our alternative finishes provide a natural metal appearance that closely match Satin Nickel and Brushed Chrome Plating—without harming the environment.
Recycling — The manufacturing floor recycles all metals and scrap acrylic used by Visa Lighting. We recycle not only our solids, but also our shavings. Visa lighting recycles electronic components, ballasts, batteries and lamps. Cardboard and wood are also part of our expansive recycling program, which includes cardboard processing that transforms boxes into a soft, formable state for reuse in packaging.
Packaging — Visa Lighting uses recyclable packing material that minimizes the amount of packaging used—without compromising the protection of shipped goods. This material is produced without chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), which have been associated with the depletion of the ozone layer.
Air Filtration System — In the machining department, the venting system leads to a smoke/fume extractor and is not exhausted outside. The cleaned, conditioned air stays inside the building, which saves energy.
Waste Water Discharge — Visa Lighting has consistently been named to the “Significant Industrial User Honor Roll” by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Our Work Environment
Bike Racks and Showers — Supporting employees who cycle to work helps Visa Lighting reduce overall emissions.
Location to Public Transportation — Visa Lighting is conveniently located within 600 feet of a public bus route. Employees are able to utilize public transportation to minimize the need for individual transportation.
Green Space — The Visa Lighting facility creates a minimal footprint on the building site. Approximately 60% of the site is green space and 20% is natural landscaping.
Building Control System — Visa Lighting utilizes the Metasys Building Control System in order to program HVAC as well as equipment setbacks to reduce energy consumption and maintain a comfortable workplace.
Daylight and Views — Open-office work areas are placed to allow Visa Lighting employees access to daylight and views, providing a positive and productive work environment.
